The Indian Tri-Colour - On Republic Day

As the morning dew upon me settled
in the chill I awoke slightly trembled
Today is my grand day I mumbled
With my plain disposition I fumbled

Perched atop & warmed by sun's saffron haze
Whitely dressed with chastity & purity I did raise
Glued with the wheel of life spinning in a maze
Aground a green farming foliage I fluttered with craze

Today I'd be hoisted by the President as 21 canons resound
With pomp & cheer they celebrate hailing me all around
Saluting me they'd march dignifiedly to the drumming sound
They'd dance to tunes to say out loud we're culturally bound

Patriotism & pride rules the mind when I flutter on any stave
To those who rever & respect me all their paths I pave
I blessedly stand by those children who are dauntless & brave
With those who die serving me, I hug them till their grave

My presence gives each recognition & indentity
And across the world I stand for peace & serenity
It's a must for people to carry me with dignity
And make me stand tall in front of the entire Humanity
