Should January 1st be Accepted as our New Year....

Bharat’s culture survived centuries of foreign rule

despite the marauders torture, pain & ridicule

our ancestors held on through the destruction & misrule

not succumbing to pressures even by a miniscule

 

However 24^th Aug 1608 arrived in Bharat the dark knight

who took over Bharat without a direct confrontational fight

with divide & rule policy they broke undaunted might

Bharatiyas’ then felt “Atithi Devo Bhava” was now not right

 

Not by swords or guns but by tearing down our scripture

they systematically mutilated our vibrant unique culture

then drubbed & distorted our progressive social structure

and left behind their meaningless uncanny customs to nurture

 

Our profound vedic schooling education they uprooted

said English & convent schools education are best suited

 

Yoga, Dhyaan & Ayurved were denounced

best curative care is allopathy they pronounced

 

They replaced our mridangams & ghatams

saying they’re not as rhythmic as their drums

 

They erased our devotional sanctity

by forcing upon us their Christianity

 

Our advanced Vedic science was snubbed as primitive esoteric tricks

but washed young brains & stained it with their undeveloped metrics

 

Our texts revealed civilizations before we witnessed aircrafts flew

It was Wright Brothers & Not Bharadwaj Rishi their trumpets blew

 

Aryabhatta & Brahmagupta gave world the Shoonya (zero) concept & font

still unrecognized this contribution stands that enabled all of them to count

 

Everything of ours science, art, culture & traditions they shamed

looted, stole & plagiarized our knowledge & they westernly renamed

 

They influenced their Vaticanized Gregorian Yearly calendar

made our highly predictive & precise panchaanga to surrender

 

Thus we have now forgotten the purpose behind our festivals

and shunned the meaningful rites, rituals and traditional eatables

 

We refrain to light the lamp but stand to blow the flame off

unknown whether we aim for enlightenment or say our life is enough

 

Vegetarian is the best for humans say all health studies

they taught us & we adopted to feast and worship dead bodies

 

We have adopted their ways – food, clothing, customs and behaviour

And revel like party animals on 1^st January is the beginning of a New Year

 

Our Bharatiya New Year is a celebration with purity, divinity, respect & no Alcohol

but Gregorian New year is an uncontrolled selfish revelry by invoking in us an animal

 

Its time now to think are we going to re-establish our depleted culture without fear

then lets shift from Jan 1^st & celebrate Ugadi/ Bhigu/ Vishu etc as our real New Year

 

We are Bharatiya and it’s an identity that we should proudly cherish

and allow all the other western uncanny customs to slowly perish.

Written after multiple incidents, accidents & the obnoxious behaviors that I witnessed last night. All I say is that it did not healthily depict the respect & regard that we had for life and the honour of being children of Maa Bharati. I wondered is this what our forefathers sacrificed their life for - got beaten, killed and hung (sent t o gallows) by these westerners whose cultures and customs that we have adopted and we still are adopting.... It is not that everything of the western culture is inappropriate but the damage it has caused to our own culture, tradition & knowledge is a hurt that we cannot forget.... This January 1st Its my humble request to all my readers to relook and revisit the pathways & strong stonewalling of our ancestors to preserve our culture such that we (the present generation and the next many more to follow) don't lose our identity as BHARATIYA.....
